Dr. Christoph Egle
Dr. Christoph Egle is the Managing Director at the bidt. Having held various positions in political science research at the Universities of Heidelberg, Frankfurt/Main and LMU Munich, Dr. Egle has now switched to scientific policy advice and science management. At the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech), he headed the Federal Government’s Innovation Dialogue office until 2018. Thereafter, he was head of the department for digital technologies in the Bavarian State Chancellery and the State Ministry for Digital Affairs before joining the bidt in June 2019.

Margret Hornsteiner is the Head of Communications and Dialogue at the bidt. Before joining the bidt, she was a lecturer at the Chair of Comparative Politics, University of Bamberg and consultant at IFOK in the field of open government and citizen dialogue. Her research interests lie in the areas of participation, representation and citizen science.

Dr. Roland A. Stürz
Dr. Roland A. Stürz is the Head of Think Tank at the bidt. He was previously a Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich. Prior to that he worked in the Institute for Innovation Research, Technology Management and Entrepreneurship at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, also in Munich. Dr. Stürz studied management at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich and the Copenhagen Business School. He holds a diploma degree in management, a Master of Business Research and a doctoral degree from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität. He regularly teaches a course on innovation policy at the Munich Intellectual Property Law Centre. His research interests are in the domains of innovation policy, digital transformation and industry evolution.

Kevin Altmann is a Researcher at the bidt. He gained his Master’s Degree in Sociology at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and is now planning to study for his doctorate. He is currently conducting investigations into evidence practising in Citizen Science. Dr. Christina Dieckhoff
Christina Dieckhoff is a Research Coordinator at the bidt. From October 2015 to June 2020, as science manager and historian, she was a research officer and coordinator for the Young Academy at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. She was previously responsible for entrepreneurship in the CeTIM Institute, Bundeswehr University, Neubiberg and was a project manager of the Founders’ Academy at GründerRegio M, Munich. From 2003 to 2007 and during 2012 she worked in the research transfer unit at LMU Munich with a focus on technology transfer and research marketing.

Dr. Angela Graf is a Principal Investigator at the bidt. Since 2020 she has been leading the project Digital Transformation of engineering companies – a question of identity. Following her studies in sociology, business administration and law, she received a doctorate in 2014 at Darmstadt Technical University with her dissertation on the topic ‘Scientific Elites in Germany’. She then worked as a post-doc at the Munich Centre for Technology in Society (MCTS) and at the Chair of Sociology of Science at the Technical University of Munich. 2020 she reached her habilitation in sociology (research topic: power relations in transition – dynamics of transformation in German academia). Her main research focus is on transformation processes, digitalization, organizational studies, power relations, technical professions and social inequality in economics and academia.

Andreas Hummler
Dr. Andreas Hummler is a Research Coordinator at the bidt. He is responsible for the area of ‘Digitalisation of Economics and Labour’. From 2016 to 2021 he was employed as a scientific assistant and lecturer of economics at the University of Applied Sciences, Kehl. He earned his Ph.D. in economics as a member of the Bureau d’Economie Théorique et Appliquée (BETA) at the University of Strasbourg from 2017-2021. He also holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Hamburg, having previously studied political science at the University of Mannheim. From 2014-2015 he was an advisor in innovation policy at the German Shipbuilding and Ocean Industries Association in Hamburg. His research interests include regional economics, resilience research, innovation research and econometrics.

Katharina Hundhammer is the Assistant of Communications and Dialogue at the bidt with a key focus on events. In addition, she supports the organisation of internal board meetings and acts as a substitute for the team- and HR-assistant. She studied English Linguistics, Literary Studies and Cultural Studies as well as Cultural Anthropology at Heidelberg University, before moving to events management in 2012. She was previously an events manager at the Robert Bosch Stiftung.

Dr. Maria Staudte is a Research Coordinator at the bidt with overall responsibility for the doctoral programme. Prior to this, she was head of a junior research group in the Saarland University’s Cluster of Excellence, where she conducted research into speech processing in human-human and human-machine interaction. Finally, she worked as a Principal Investigator and member of the board of directors in a Collaborative Research Centre, covering various topics including data protection and empirical data collection. Through these activities, Dr. Staudte brings to the bidt extensive experience in teaching, research, management and, in particular, the supervision and counselling of doctoral students from various research areas.

Dr. Andreas Wenninger is a Research Coordinator at the bidt. He is also a member of the DFG Research Group 2448 “Evidence Practices in Science, Medicine, Technology and Society”. From 2015-2019 he was a Research Associate at TU Munich (Digital Media Lab of the Munich Centre for Technology in Society and at the Chair of Sociology of Science). In 2012/2013 he was a lecturer at the Institute of Sociology, Leibniz University, Hannover, having from 2006 to 2012 been a research assistant at the Faculty of Sociology, Bielefeld University. He holds a Diploma in Sociology from Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich. His research interests are: science communication and social media; media and the public; along with participatory science and citizen science.
