Andreas Jungherr is a member of bidt’s Board of Directors. He holds the Chair of Political Science, specialising in Digital Transformation, at the University of Bamberg. His research focuses on the challenges of digital transformation in politics and society, the use of artificial intelligence (AI), new data sources (big data) and computer-based methods in social science (computational social science). Another focus of his research is the systematic analysis and adequate handling of potential risks that can arise from disinformation and misinformation. At the bidt, Jungherr is involved in two research projects: Generative Artificial Intelligence in Elections: Uses, Preferences, and Trust and Authoritarian AI: How Large Language Models (LLMs) Align With Russia’s Propaganda.
