Prof. Dr.-Ing. Felix Freiling

Felix Freiling is a member of bidt’s Board of Directors and a Professor of computer science at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). His research focus is forensic computer science, i.e., applying computer science methods to answer questions in the legal system. He has published numerous papers on the methodological foundations of the field, especially on securing digital traces, tool-assisted analysis of digital evidence and technical aspects of legal admissibility. He co-founded the first German part-time bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes focusing on digital forensics and trained several generations of expert witnesses. He is also the spokesperson for the graduate college “Cybercrime and Forensic Informatics”, funded by the German Research Foundation.
