Dr. Roland A. Stürz

Head of Think Tank, bidt

Dr. Roland A. Stürz is the Head of Think Tank at the bidt. His research interests lie in the fields of innovation policy, industrial evolution and digital transformation. His research at the bidt focuses in particular on digital skills – which the bidt regularly surveys using tools such as the “bidt-Digitalbarometer” – as well as on research questions relating to the uptake and acceptance of working from home. He was most recently a member of the European Commission’s JRC expert panel on the further development of the European Digital Competence Reference Framework (DigComp) and is currently a member of the European Commission’s working group on the development of guidelines for assessing digital competences. As a member of the MVHS Board of Trustees, he is also committed to lifelong learning and ensuring that as many people as possible participate in a digitalised society. Prior to his role at the bidt, he worked as a research officer at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich, where his work included contributing to the annual reports of the German Federal Government’s Expert Commission on Research and Innovation (EFI). Before that, he was a research assistant at the Institute for Innovation Research, Technology Management and Entrepreneurship at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Roland A. Stürz studied business administration at LMU Munich and at Copenhagen Business School. He holds a degree in business administration, a Master of Business Research and a PhD in economics.
