The “bidt Digital Transformation Research Conference” brings together scholars from a wide range of disciplines who investigate digital transformation as a defining phenomenon shaping contemporary societies. Digital technologies permeate all areas of society – from business, public administration, and law to science, politics, media, as well as everyday social life, going along with far-reaching structural, organizational, and normative changes.
As a cross-cutting societal issue, digital transformation is characterized by complex, multidimensional processes of change in which technological and social challenges intersect. The ubiquity of digital technologies and their impact across all societal spheres call for multi- and transdisciplinary research on digitalization and transformation in order to adequately analyze structures, dynamics, and consequences, to deepen our understanding, and to generate evidence-based impulses for a responsible, public-welfare-oriented shaping of digital transformation.
