Monitoring the Digital Workplace in Bavaria (MonDA-BY)

Digital transformation of work in Bavaria is reshaping sectoral structures, labour markets, fields of activities and skills requirements, and thereby raising fundamental questions regarding the retention of skilled workers, equal opportunities and economic development.. To date, there has been a lack of a detailed, reliable and up-to-date database for evidence-based policy-making on these developments, beyond (sometimes contradictory) forecasts. While extensive data sets on digital work in Bavaria already exist, for example from labour market data, vocational training and business and population surveys, these are stored at various institutions, are available in different formats and are updated at different times. 

The aim of the project ‘Monitoring the Digital Work in Bavaria’ is therefore to establish a long-term monitoring that systematically links these datasets and continuously collects and analyses relevant indicators of digital transformation of work in Bavaria. To this end, existing data sources will be identified, consolidated, harmonised and regularly updated automatically. 

In addition, an interactive web dashboard is being developed which clearly visualises the key figures and trends relating to digitalisation and provides access to them for different target groups. Furthermore, scientific analyses and topic- and sector-specific analyses will be provided. 

By systematically linking existing data on digitalisation in Bavaria, the project contributes to evidence-based policy-making and an informed public debate on the future of work in Bavaria.
