Most people in Germany state that opportunities and risks are balanced when using artificial intelligence (AI). However, if we look at this assessment according to fields of application, there are clear differences.
For example, the assessment as an opportunity predominates in the detection and treatment of diseases. However, risks are predominantly seen in judgements and decisions in legal proceedings. In addition, 55% of respondents state that humans alone should decide in court proceedings, while 40% concede AI a “right of suggestion” in decisions. In all other areas of application, on the other hand, a significantly higher proportion at least consider a suggestion by the AI.
