For efficient transport planning and the provision of targeted mobility services, it is extremely important for mobility providers, such as public transport companies, to be able to access mobility data.
As a representative survey of 1,005 people aged 16 and over in Germany conducted by the digital association Bitkom has now shown, the willingness of citizens to provide anonymised data about their mobility behaviour is very high.
For example, 89% of respondents would provide information about their journey to work, their own car use and the current traffic situation under certain conditions. Only 11% of respondents would provide personal mobility data without any conditions. However, for the majority of respondents, the improvement of mobility services (63%) and the improvement of traffic flow on their own route are sufficient conditions for providing personal mobility data.
44% of respondents link the provision of mobility data to access to relevant statistics and 32% to support for public research in the transport sector. 16% link the provision of mobility data to associated financial benefits. Only 8% would not make mobility data available under any circumstances.
