
Prof. Dr. Doris Fischer

Prof. Dr. Doris Fischer has been Chair of China Business and Economics at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg since 2012. Since April 2021, she is also Vice President of Internationalisation and Alumni of the University of Wuerzburg.
After studying Business Administration and Chinese Studies at the Universities of Hamburg and Wuhan, Doris Fischer completed her PhD in economics at the University of Gießen. Her numerous publications on China’s economy reflect her long-term research interests in competition, innovation and industrial policies and the incentives they create for economic actors.
Current research projects investigate characteristics of energy transition and related industrial policies under the administration of Xi Jinping, local self-organisation in the context of the Chinese energy transition and the impact of the Chinese social credit system on companies and global governance. Further research addresses the development of the Chinese innovation system in international comparison and the interplay of innovation policies and entrepreneurship in China.
