The Munich AI Lectures series returns with a talk at the intersection of artificial intelligence and science, hosted together with LMU Munich, in particular the Bavarian AI Chair for Mathematical Foundations of Artificial Intelligence.
Shafi Goldwasser is the Leighton Family Professor of Mathematics at MIT, the C. Lester Hogan Professor in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at UC Berkeley (on leave), and an Emeritus Professor in the Computer Science and Applied Mathematics Department at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. She is a former Director of the Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing and co-founder and Chief Scientist of Duality Technologies.
Goldwasser received the ACM A.M. Turing Award in 2012 and is a two-time recipient of the Gödel Prize, in 1993 and 2001, for her work on interactive proofs and their connections to approximation.
The Munich AI Lectures are a joint initiative of baiosphere, Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BAdW), Helmholtz Munich, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), Technische Universität München (TUM), AI-HUB@LMU, ELLIS Chapter Munich, Konrad Zuse School of Excellence in Reliable AI (relAI), Munich Center for Machine Learning (MCML), Munich Data Science Institute (MDSI) at TUM and Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI), coordinated by the Bavarian AI Agency. The aim is to attract renowned AI researchers to Munich.
