Call for proposals opened: Programmes for early career researchers Graduate Center for Postdocs and Digitalisation Labs

To strengthen the next generation of scientists, the bidt is once again offering two funding programmes: the bidt Digitalisation Colleges for students and the bidt Graduate Centre for postdocs. The aim of both programmes is to promote a fundamental understanding of digitalisation and to support research projects that make innovative contributions to the application and design of artificial intelligence.

The Graduate Centre for Postdocs addresses outstanding researchers in the early career phase – usually in the first or second year after their doctorate. The funding programme enables the development of an independent research profile as well as networking and further training in the field of digitalisation. The funding comprises a position up to E14 TV-L and €15,000 in research funding per year, for a maximum of four years; the plan is to take on around ten postdocs on 1 January 2027.

The bidt digitalisation colleges are a teaching format for students at Bavarian state and state-recognised, significantly funded universities. The aim is to provide a sound understanding of key digitalisation issues and their interaction with society – in an interdisciplinary and practical way. Around twelve colleges are planned; the funding period is expected to run from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2030, with up to €2.1 million available per year.

Both programs are funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and Art.

Application deadline

The application deadline for both programmes is 31 December 2025. All details on requirements and submission can be found on the respective calls and programme pages.
