Sascha Götz

Head of the Smart City program, City of Bamberg

Sascha Götz studied Slavic literature and linguistics and Eastern European history in Bonn, worked in various positions as an office manager in the German Bundestag in the areas of foreign, development and European policy and was managing director of the association for cultural exchange with Central and Eastern Europe MitOst e.V. in Berlin for four years. He came to Bamberg in 2012, where he initially worked for the municipal utilities and then moved to the city’s economic department in 2019. Among other things, he worked on the topic of administrative digitization and developed the “Smart World Heritage” funding application with numerous stakeholders. In 2021, Bamberg was awarded 17.5 million euros to turn Bamberg into a “Smart City” by 2027. He has been head of the city’s Smart City program since 2022.
