Dr. Magdalena Obermaier

Magdalena Obermaier is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Media and Communication at LMU. Her work is mostly located in (digital) media use and effects research from the perspective of various groups of recipients and with a focus on anti- and prosocial communication and victimization. She was a DDCxTrygFonden Fellow at the University of Southern Denmark, and served as a Visiting Scholar at City St George’s, the University of London and the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 2025, she was Junior Researcher in Residence at CAS LMU and served as an interim professor at the Institute for Journalism and Communication Research at Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media in 2026.
