Brief description of the doctoral project
My dissertation project focuses on research questions at the interface between the digitalisation of the world of work and the development of cities. I am investigating the economic, geographical and social consequences of increased working from home in cities. When work locations shift, how does this change local economic activity and structure? Which jobs are affected by ‘New Work’? Are people’s residential preferences shifting? What influence do the new, digital forms of work have on urban development, especially the future of city centres? With my research, I contribute to a better understanding of the local opportunities and challenges of the new world of work.
