This interdisciplinary doctoral project is dedicated to the combination of linguistic analysis and didactic development of digital learning materials for teaching English in schools. For this purpose, an innovative digital grammar learning tool will be developed for which authentic linguistic data will be processed. Specifically, corpora, in this case digital text databases of written and spoken English, will be made accessible to learners. The effectiveness of the tool, i.e. the extent to which its use increases learners’ grammatical competence, will be measured empirically. At the same time, the learners’ attitudes towards the features of the tool will be surveyed. From these findings, relevant implications for the future development of digital grammar learning materials emerge.
