In recent decades, many companies have made extensive investments in the introduction of new information and communication technologies. However, it has been shown that companies do not automatically benefit from the use of digital technologies. Important determinants for an increase in productivity are the skills of the employees as well as the willingness of the management to adapt the organizational structure of the company to the possibilities of the technologies. To date, it has been difficult to empirically explore these mechanisms. This research will help to understand how the use of digital technologies changes the organizational structure and productivity of firms, as well as examine what impact this has on employment and income change of different population groups.
