Brief description of my research project
The climate crisis, increasing scarcity of resources and growing regulatory pressure are challenging companies to systematically embed sustainability in risk management. In my doctoral project, I am analyzing the potential of digital technologies – in particular machine learning, CO2-adaptive optimization models and self-sovereign identities – for the early detection, analysis and management of sustainability risks. Key questions are: (1) What challenges arise when dealing with sustainability data? (2) To what extent can digital technologies enable effective sustainability risk management? (3) What digital resources and capabilities do companies need for resilient and future-oriented risk management? My aim is to make a scientific contribution to digital decarbonization – especially in the energy, building and mobility sectors.
