Brief description of the doctoral project

The aim of my doctoral project is to draw conclusions about the risk of falls and diseases from the gait pattern of elderly patients. To this end, high-tech camera systems are used to create 3D movement images and, in combination with musculoskeletal simulation software, determine important biomechanical parameters such as muscle and joint forces of the lower extremities and the spine. Machine learning algorithms will then be used to correlate unconscious movement patterns that are barely recognisable by humans with the individual’s medical history and clinical test results. In the future, comparable systems should offer fast and objective diagnostic support in the clinic.
