Brief description of the doctoral project
The pervasive pressure of digital transformation and the increasing shortage of IT professionals pose significant challenges for organizations and call for innovative solutions. Citizen development is an emerging approach that enables employees without formal IT training to develop digital applications tailored to their specific needs using user-friendly low-code platforms. This concept is gaining momentum in both the private and public sectors and holds great potential for democratizing and shaping digital transformation in a participatory way. The aim of this doctoral project is to investigate how established organizations can strategically leverage citizen development to drive their digital transformation effectively.
