Brief description of the doctoral project

I am a doctoral candidate at the Chair of Business Information Systems (Prof. Dr. Thomas Widjaja) at the University of Passau. I am working on a cumulative dissertation on the topic of privacy and data disclosure in the context of social virtual worlds (‘metaverse’) that are accessible via VR technologies. The metaverse comprises immersive virtual worlds in which users interact synchronously via avatars. In particular, I am investigating the privacy-specific particularities in this data-intensive context and the role of avatars as virtual identities.
