Dr. Elisa Wegmann

Dr. Elisa Wegmann works as a cognitive psychologist at the University of Duisburg-Essen. She deals with the question of which individual characteristics, affective and cognitive mechanisms lead to people developing addictive behaviour towards certain internet applications such as social media, online shopping applications and computer games. Addressing reinforcing factors and processes (e.g. reward experience and fear of missing out) while at the same time critically reflecting on possible disorders is central.
