Brief description of the doctoral project

To make online education more engaging and personalized, I am leveraging machine learning and large language models to detect attention lapses and provide real-time support. I am developing algorithms to identify when learners lose focus and an AI mentor that actively assists students during lectures. Both tools aim to enhance engagement and knowledge retention while fostering learner agency. I use privacy-preserving techniques to ensure ethical data use. In ongoing studies, the AI mentor shows promising results, particularly in helping younger students improve their learning outcomes. Through these innovations, I strive to create more effective, personalized, and empowering online learning experiences.
