Brief description of my doctoral project

Access to large datasets and rapidly growing computing resources enables more and more companies to integrate AI systems into their business processes and strategic decisions. This creates both competition and collaboration between humans and AI. My dissertation project examines this dual perspective of human-AI interaction in the digital economy and society. Regarding competition, I analyze how AI-based pricing algorithms affect consumers and what this means for regulators tackling algorithmic collusion. Regarding collaboration, I investigate how methods of Explainable AI can strengthen user trust and acceptance of AI systems, exploring how the design and communication of explanations shape human decision-making in high-stakes contexts such as credit scoring.
